| 7/14/2010 10:00:00 AM | | Passport fees increased as of July 13 The fee for first-time adult passport applications increased $35, from $100 to $135, according to the U.S. Department of State.
For minors under age 16, fees are $105.
For passport cards, fees are $55 for adults and $40 for children.
These prices include the $25 execution fee charged by facilities that accept passport applications, such as post offices.
Passport renewals for adults will increase to $110.
Passport cards can be used to enter the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports, but it cannot be used for international travel by air.
You must submit form Ds-11 If any of fhe following are true:
- You have never been issued a U.S. passport or
- You are under age 16 or
- You were under age 16 when your previous passport was issued or
- Your most recent U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago or
- Your most recent U.S. passport was lost or stolen or
- Your name has changed since your previous U.S. passport was issued and you are unable to legally document your name change.
As of July 7, processing applications takes approximately 4-6 weeks from the time of application.
